See Ya Later, Respirator

Dad did well with his breathing last night, so he is now officially off the respirator for good. Praise God! Dad can finally breath 24 hours a day on his own...what a blessing. The trach will remain in his throat for awhile, even if he isn't on the ventilator. And now he will most likely have the valve in a majority of the time, which allows him to speak. Awesome.

The major event of the day was when Pops was working with Toni, one of the occupational therapists. To her surprise, the fingers on dad's left hand started moving more than they had previously. He wasn't able to pinch them together, but there was definite improvement, which is big because we really haven't seen much with his left arm at all. I wasn't there to see the finger action, but apparently it caused quite a commotion...Toni even got her tap shoes out of her locker and did some celebratory dancing!! Mom said about 10 nurses gathered to watch dad's fingers...how exciting is that? Dad just cried. So praise God for this progress...more dexterity in that left hand would be huge. Many prayers are being answered....God is good.

Other than that, continue to pray for dad's anxiety. Even when good things are happening, he easily gets anxious and panics. We pray that he would feel peace above all else...that he knows he has nothing to fear. He is sleeping better at night, so that's good. But we continue to pray for peace...lots of peace...so much peace it's coming out of his ears. He still has a few weeks to go before he goes home (sorry for the confusion), so glory to God for how far he has come. Every baby step, every day, every tap dance, every laugh....all gifts from God. Total sweetness.

Wow. Another prayer answered.

We will continue to pray for more progress.

Thank God for the progress so far.

Thank you for continuing to share these "baby steps" with us.

YES !!
Go, you left-hand fingers!

Once those puppies are moving, Bohr will be able to handle fast and tricky turns, and become the most feared "Storm-Rider" around!

That is news we've all been waiting to hear.

Keep it up, Patrick!

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for the springing fresh from the world

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's recreation of the new day

Please tell Pat that the AWANA kids can't wait to see him. We all continue to pray for him daily and to read about his wonderful progress is so heart warming. Jason Hall is an inspiration to all people, young and old, and I know that he will play a huge part in Pat's recovery. Jason is one of the most positive people I know and if anyone can help with Pat's anxitey, Jason can. Bye, Bye respirator - that is a giant step. Each day Pat is continuing to improve and now left hand finger movement. Let us all pray that next we will see toe movement. We continue to lift all of your family up in prayer and want you to know that when Pat returns home there will be many people to help with physical therapy, rehab, meals - whatever you need. Thank you again Amy for your daily postings. It is an amazing story and you are an amazing family.

Praise to you God for all of the progress thus far and Lord, if it is in your plan, please restore Pat's legs so that he may once again roller blade through the neighborhood with the kids. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

Yahoo! Left handed movement! Watch out, he'll be pinching people one of these days!

Jeannie, it was so good to talk with you the other day! We continue to pray for Pat, for you, for the family, for the house remodeling....Don't worry, we've got it covered. We'll be also praying specifically for a wonderful calm and peace for Pat.

Amy, thanks for your continued dedication to the blog. We love you all!

More movement in the left hand. That is huge. The comments about moving in to Mike and Becky's house left chills. It really shows how much in control God is. He has been making plans to ease a difficult situation before anyone knew how important it would be. The contractor with wheelchair experience...just too many coincidences to be coincidences. Thank you for sharing...these are faith builing experiences. You all are in my prayers.

So pleased to hear the continuing good news. Modern day miracles, right before our eyes. Amazing!

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Isaiah 43:18 & 19a

"Thank You, Lord, for this promise. When I am discouraged and find myself looking backward instead of to the future, help me see the "new thing" You are doing in my life. Amen

Jesus is the Healer !

Peace, peace, peace to Pat and all the Bohrmans. Patience, patience, patience...to each and everyone.
John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in ME you will have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world" Today, I pray that our gracious heavenly FATHER will sustain, uphold, and encourage you. We thank YOU, Father, that Pat dwells in the secret place of the MOST HIGH and abides under the shadow of the Almighty. We say of You, LORD, YOU are Pat's refuge and fortress, in YOU will he trust. You cover Pat with YOUR feathers, and under YOUR wings shall Pat trust. I pray that Pat shall not be afraid of the terror by night or the fiery dart that flies by day. And I especially thank YOU that Pat is off the respirator and for the small steps of movement in his hand....may there be much more!! Thank YOU that YOU give YOUR angels charge over Pat to keep him in all YOUR ways. Amen
