Wednesday Night

Unfortunately, dad's fever rose today because of the pneumonia so he was unable to work on breathing on his own. So he didn't necessarily slide backwards, but no progress was made. (Except, as earlier stated, some ever exciting mustache growth. It's coming back quite nicely.) Although he was unable to do any respiratory exercises, he was sat up in more of a sitting position for four hours, which helps heal his lungs.

He was pretty cranky this evening, I caught him mouthing "Why! Why! Why!" and even a swear word or two. As surprising as it is, it is good to see him getting angry because to me it means he is dealing with what's happened. It's hard to tell what he was mad at, whether it was the sitting up for four hours (he's not a huge fan), or his overall condition and paralysis. Either way, it's good to see the emotion...he definitely needs to go through an anger stage. Once he was laid back down, he was more peaceful and fell asleep pretty quickly. We continue to pray that the fever dissipates, the pneumonia goes away, and he can work on his breathing tomorrow. We pray for his broken body, but we also pray for his heart, that he would not give up in frustration. It will take a lot of work on his part to get better, pray for a spirit of humility and peace as he heals.

We took some of his favorite worship CD's that mom likes to listen to in his car and played them in a walkman for him. He seemed to like it, but soon shook his head no. Maybe a little too much for him just yet. Someday I'm sure he'll like them. Mom also says thank you to those who sent gas cards....you'd be proud to know she is driving just under the speed limit to get the most for her money.

Pray for Pops tonight! No more pneumonia...no more infections...and some progress tomorrow. Baby steps are better than no steps!

Dear Bohrman Family,

This might make you all smile. When I first heard about Pat's accident it was Friday afternoon and Michelle Shaw, AWANA Commander, called with the news and asked that I call my AWANA leaders and anyone else I thought should be notified. So I called my leaders and then after giving it much consideration, placed two more phone calls. The first was to Heather Weiland and the second to Dan Curtin. I was not aware that your families were connected, something just told me to call Heather and Dan. Of course, Heather was in high gear arranging mass e-mailings and support services for your family and Jennifer Curtin said that Dan was not home because he was at the hospital with Pat, his prayer partner of 20 years.

How fortunate you are to have friends like the Weilands and the Curtins and I know this is just the tip of the iceberg. As the days pass, you are such a part of the lives of so many people like me - people you have never even met but people who consider you dear friends and people who would do anything for you. Please call if there is anything I could do - great or small. Thank you Amy for the updates - they are so full of faith, hope, tenderness, humor and emotion and help us all focus on the prayers needed at the time. My AWANA kids call me Grandma Lindy - I would love it if you all did too! God Bless you all as you surround your father with love and support during this very trying time. Lindy Hauber

Dearest Bohrmans-
Drew - my brother, took me to my neurology appt at Froedtert today, and we thought we'd take a chance that we could see and/or speak to the Bohrman family. Well, they told us to come right up to ICU...which sort of surprised us because we just announced ourselves as Drew & Jenny to the receptionist. Pat was awake and he definitely recognized both of us and we prayed with Pat and he had a tear in his eye and definitely wanted to talk but, of course he couldn't because of the trach. Jeannie had stepped out of the room to have a cup of coffee or maybe a danish- who knows? Anyway, we prayed that Pat's lungs would clear and for strength and continued signs of healing- and for encouragement and strength for the entire Bohrman family. So, now I pray that Pat will not be frustrated in trying to explain that we were the ones visiting. To all the Bohrmans, keep fighting and watching for all those baby steps! On our end, we will carry everything to the Lord in prayer, all the requests that you so graciously have shared with us. With my MS, I know a little about the frustrations of not being able to talk, and when I was able to finally articulate, my words became slurred and others had difficulty understanding me. So I pray for patience in the process of healing for Pat and understanding & encouragement for the family. You are loved immeasurably by God and all those who are your prayer partners!!

Hi, Sitting at work today and just taking a break. I was going through a devotional I have and thought I would write some words to you all from this book.
Complain to one who can help you. Yugoslav Proverb The Lord is near to all who call on him...Ps 145:18--Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden. Corrie ten Boom--Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? So do not worry...Matthew 6:27 & 31
Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should. Ps 90:12--And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him...Ephesians 3:17 Lord, this is my earnest prayer as I look toward a new year with You. Amen--Take time to laugh, it is the music of the soul.
To be continued...
Praying and expecting miracles !!!!!! linda lentz

I am a business acquaintance of Pats and I finally had the privilege to meet him last summer. We have had many conversations over the phone and I have really enjoyed getting to know him. I recently spent 6 weeks at the hospital with my wife while she battled cancer and I know the heartache that you are faced with daily. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Please tell him that "The Hoser" from St. Louis is wishing him a speedy recovery.

God Bless!

And oh ,, yeah, the stash is coming in oh, so nicely, Amy and family -- So be hopeful in our Lord, HE is working. Plus, I forgot to mention that your father mouthed "thank you" when we lifted him up in prayer. And we were duly impressed by the number of cards and pictures on your board. There are sooooo many praying for a complete recovery and healing for Pat. Our prayers our with you, "The sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces" Isaiah 25:8 So I pray now that all tears will be wiped away by our LORD and that HIS glory will be revealed. May HIS blessings be bestowed upon you, Bohrmans!
