Just Kidding

Well, no tracheotomy today. I know, we're pretty bummed out too. It was a long day of waiting for mom, she spent the day assuring him his tubes were coming out soon. There were a number of other emergency surgeries that took priority over him, so Pops has to wait another day. Our ability to wait and lean on God grows certainly grows stronger every day. Dad was on most of his own oxygen today and last night, which is great. Baby steps. He continues to be in and out, sometimes he seems to recognize people and understand commands, sometimes not. At one point, P.J. looked him in the eye and asked, "Do you know that I love you?" He ever so slightly nodded his head yes. Before mom came home, she begged the nurse to take out his bite blocker to give him a tiny bit of relief. She did and mom told him that if he tried to bite his tubes, the bite blocker would go back in. He didn't bite at them, so it was a good sign that he understood what she had said. Baby steps. So we continue to pray for patience as we do some more waiting, and we pray for a tracheotomy tomorrow. May the Holy Spirit surround our Pops tonight, and give him some good, peaceful, comfortable sleep.

Wow !!! Such small things can make such a difference in the healing and recovery process. Normal daily functions turn into big mountains when we are told we can't do things the way we did. They become irritations and discomfort and an annoyance. I will pray Pat is a good patient, Jean is a good wife and life coach and that the doctors and nurses use their wisdom and knowledge to make this all work together for Pat's process of getting well. Perfect peace tonight for the Bohrman family. Focus your eyes on Jesus. His eyes will lovingly give you the confidence, assurance and strength to do this. Time spent will be well worth the wait. When the Lord does it His way, it is bigger and better than we can ever imagine. Linda Lentz Love the family picture !!!

The waiting is so difficult - and as you say in your message - you get excited over the smallest steps forward.

We pray for a good nights sleep for everyone and strength for tomorrow.

Phil.4:7
And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Jean & Pat,

What a great looking family you have. You can be so proud of yourselves for raising your family to love the Lord the way you all do! Your whole family is a true inspiration of Gods love. May He continue to give you strength as you wait for His timing.

May the peace and love of the Lord bring you comfort and rest.
Psalm 46:1,10 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. "Be still, and know that I am God. I am exalted among the nations,I am exalted in the earth!"

Jean and family,
We're checking the blog everyday from Hawaii. Thanks for all the updates. They make us feel connected. Enjoyed reading the Christmas letter. Family is everything and you seem to have very thoughtful children. Quite a testament to you and Pat.
Love,
Your cousin Beth

No one will be more surprised by your entry than I am. At 1255 I checked in on your parents and they were both resting - so I didn't relay that the Operating Room charge nurse had just told me the trach would be done around 1500, which the O.R. schedule board confirmed. I went to bed feeling like the O.R. had let you all down. Chuck Swindoll, on Insight for Living, reminded me that God is COMPLETELY sovereign - God was not surprised. We only know this very moment and the past; we have no idea what even the next second will bring. We are finite. God is infinite. Thanks to Chuck's message, I will not be going to work tomorrow to find out what happened. Instead I will rest in the fact that God is sovereign, trusting there was a divine reason that trach was not done today, praying that you find some comfort in the fact that God is using this circumstance to grow the faith of His people. Even though it is frustrating that the trach could not be done today, it sounds like Pat's body is getting stronger--using his own oxygen is a terrific sign.

We continue to pray for you all as you watch, wait, and pray. We loved the picture of Paige kissing "Bapa", and Cole's sign for him. Pat can't help but sense your collective love for him!

We love you all!

Dear Bohrmans--We have checked this page daily to know how to pray for all of you!! Amy, your writing has been inspirational! What a witness to the faith that you have all professed for years. It has been 5 years now since we went thru the health roller coaster with Bill. We pray for another miracle healing for another special "Cooney" dad. Jean, take care of yourself--he is going to need you!
We think of you all and pray "without ceasing".

Prayer for Jeannie: Precious Heavenly Father, Be with my friend Jeannie. Give her good rest tonight and strength for tomorrow. Double her energy, stamina and health at this time. Thank you Lord for the beautiful family that you placed her in. May she draw strength from them but most important from you Lord to be the "heart and soul" of her family at this time. Give her the words of comfort to say to those she loves. Continue to heal her sweet husband and bring him back into fellowship with his family and loved ones soon. In Jesus Precious Name I pray. Love, Hubbell

I was reading the daily devotional of Charles Stanley today and this is a partial excerpt from today's message. I thought of your whole family when I read it:

"Having a quiet spirit in a storm of trouble does not make any human sense. We are "supposed" to become anxious. It's only natural. But our God is supernatural. He is living inside us in the form of the Holy Spirit, so we can remain peaceful.

No matter what harsh circumstances may challenge our faith, peace that is grounded in Christ cannot be broken. With the Father's all-powerful hand protecting and providing for us, what reason do we have to be afraid or anxious? What we have to do is keep our eyes and our faith focused upon the Lord.

Isaiah 26:3 tells us, "The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You." We live in a world of conflict. As a result, we often suffer heartache. It's easy to become focused on the situation and all the ways it has disrupted our life. But peace comes from choosing to trust God for a resolution that will come in His time and in His way."

We are praying for all of you as you go through this difficult time.

Dear Jean and Family,
Thank you so much for the Christmas card and the updated pictures. This is a marathon that you are enduring, I pray your patience and trust will be rewarded. "Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger withheld his compassion?.. I will remember the LORD'S works; yes I will remember Your ancient wonders. I will reflect on all You have done and meditate on Your actions....You are a God who works wonders; You revealed Your strength among the people." Psm 77:9,11-12,14. Praying that Pat will have his surgery today and that he and your family had a restful night. No bite guard would be a good thing, also after Jeannie informed you of the consequences!! Love and heartfelt thoughts <><
