Saturday Night

Not much new to report. We all saw dad for awhile today, he seemed about the same as yesterday. They are constantly adjusting his pain meds, trying new sedatives, reducing this, removing that. He is in a sort of semi-conscience state, drifting in and out. He will open his eyes, look at us, and sometimes give us a tiny smile. Other times he looks at us and just stares. It's still very obvious that he hates the tubes and neck brace, he thrashes his head from side to side and tries to chew his tubes. We realize most of this is just his body reacting to the foreign object being forced down his throat, but it is so hard to watch helpless knowing the dad we love is in such discomfort. His levels are still holding, and we continue to pray, pray, pray that he gets a trach soon. Tomorrow is his birthday, so we are hoping that a tracheotomy will be his big birthday present. If not, we wait for God's timing. I definitely have my opinions on when things should be happening, but God has the master timetable for dad's recovery. We trust in His perfect wisdom and timing.

Mom is much more comfortable now as they brought in a recliner to dad's ICU room. She is able to be right next to him, which she loves because even if she catches a nap, she can just open her eyes and he's right there. She says it's payback for all the times dad dozed off in the recliner while she was in labor with us three kids.

Our family had planned long ago to be celebrating Christmas this weekend, since P.J. and Kersta will be in Arizona for the holidays. We shared a good dinner, opened some presents, enjoyed the excitement of the little ones. Of course there was an unspoken sadness that dad was not sharing it all with us. I know we would trade the presents, the carols, the tree, all of it, just to have Pops here. But I know that's all part of what God is teaching us through this. I thank Him for the chance to see just how meaningless so much of Christmas is. I thank Him for giving us a clearer picture of His love. I thank Him for using our dad in a hospital bed to make us better understand the gift of a babe in a manger.

Thank you for sharing - it's truly a blessing to be touched by your writing. I doubt that your dad would have ever believed people would become addicted to a site about him! Unable to go to bed until reading the latest! May God give you all strength to deal with the emotional rollercoaster you're on. In Him, Jane Z.

Dear Pat-
Can't sleep so now I am thinking and praying for you and your family. Do you know today is your birthday? God does and he knows every hair on your head - has counted them. Jake saw the northern lights the other night and it reminded me that He who has orchestrated the universe also is intimately involved with the details of you. Oh, how great it is that we are in relationship with You and have assurance of your devine plan. I praise God that you are yoked with Him and He is carrying you now. Phil 4:6 "Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" So right now I present you to Him for healing, rest and to have the trach put in soon. Blessings<><

Pat,
The humorous side of me wants to put this on the “Top 10 List of Things a Guy Will Do to Get Some Attention on His Birthday”. But based on the amount of attention, love, and outpouring of support and encouragement you and your family have received this last week, it is obvious that this is just pay back time for all of the love and attention you have given to others - from your heart - over all the years.

On your birthday - through all the pain, anger and fear - may you continue to see and feel the love of Christ that God has presented to you through His holy people – Blessed be His Name !!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAT !!

Hey Bohrman!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
The first memory that came to my mind today when I though of you was driving past you on Valley Rd in my big Suburban with a wave. When I went around the next corner, I looked in my side mirror and there you were holding on for dear life going about 25 MPH on your roller blades. It's remembering those things that also reminds me of the almost painful belly laughter I've had both WITH you and Jean and of course AT you (sorry). Have a really great birthday and remember that God is in control! You don't get to pick what is happening to you, you just have to DO WHAT IT TAKES!!

Love you guys,
Julie (Ahrendt) Simons

Dear Pat,
We wanted to wish you a happy birthday and hope that all of your family's wishes come true for you. We're praying for your full recovery even if it takes many baby steps to get there, although we're hoping to see those turn into giant leaps soon!

We received an email (which was actually for the troops) that had a great message for you also--"THE TASK AHEAD OF YOU IS NEVER GREATER THAN THE POWER BEHIND YOU." "Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power."-Ephesians 6:10

Take care and we'll see you when you're accepting visitors! Love, Rudy & Theresa

Praying for your continued recovery and peace in the situation you are in. We know you can only take one day at a time, we will all keep praying. My little boys ask about you everyday and pray for that "Pat Guy" that is hurt in the hospital. Keep healing!

Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday to you.
Happy Birthday dear Pat.
Happy Birthday to you.

God's blessings to you.
God's blessings to you.
God's blessings dear Pat.
God's blessings to you.

May the blessings of the Lord be upon you.
We bless you in the name of the Lord.
May the blessings of the Lord be upon you.
We bless you in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

May Jesus sing over you today as you rest and heal. The angels rejoiced the day you were born. God had this all planned out from the beginning. No surprises for our big God. Savor the sweet, tender touch of the Master's hand as you walk in the grace of his love for you.

I miss your smiling face appearing at my front door with your business papers for Bill. It is always so great to catch up on the family news.

Bill said he will call and check if they need any financial help at the shop while you are out.

That's what you pay him for, right??!!!!!

I pray your mind is focused on the Lord and you are hearing the angels sing hymns and words of encouragement and love to you. Jesus is coaching you. His words are always positive and dear, specific and exactly what you need to hear. The Holy Spirit is your cheerleader jumping for joy with each step of your recovery. The Heavenly Father is smiling at you with love and saying what a great job you have done. He also says, well done thou good and faithful servant, Pat Bohrman. You are a man of faith, intergrity, love and humor. I created you. I know you. What a great guy you are. You bring me such pleasure and serve me well. Your relationship is so special. Thank you for telling others about me. In you I am well pleased.

Linda Lentz
So glad I can be a part of your family through this site. What a modern miracle this is as it is used to connect us all and bring honor to God.

Happy Birthday !!!!!!
