V-Day

I think I just want to ask a specific prayer request tonight. Dad is the same, he had a fair amount of rehab today which is good. But we ask for prayer concerning his attitude. His therapists tell him what to work on, how to improve his swallowing, how to get his lungs stronger, etc. but a lot of the time dad doesn't choose to follow through. You would expect him to have the desire to do everything possible to get stronger and be more independent, but we just aren't seeing much drive lately. Of course, we don't know what he's going through, we can't feel what he's feeling, but we can pray that God would give him determination and hunger to recover. So let's be specific in our prayers...that dad would have a renewed desire to work hard, that he would have an attitude of hope. Pep talks and encouragement can only do so much. Ultimately, we cannot change dad's attitude...but God can.

So we lift him up in prayer tonight, that God would be working in him and that dad would know and believe that God truly has a plan for his life. Prayer works...that is His promise...so we ask God to work mightily in dad's heart and mind. If his mind is in the right place, hopefully his body will follow...

We are praying that specific prayer with you. None are experiencing what Pat is......there's just no way. We'd like to, but truly cannot; so we pray. That will not stop. Promise!

Father God,
Help Pat to finish this race well. We praise You for all of the progress, and the fact that You spared his life back in December. Place a fighting spirit in him, Lord, and would keep Pat excited about where he is going with therapy, remind him of the astonishing family that You have blessed him with, and friends who just won't quit.
Help us also to be patient with Your timing; for You are the Creator of all and You make all things happen in Your time.
Thanks also for those who don't know You, but read this every day. May Pat's situation be used as a blessing to bring others into Your presence. Thanks for your "missionary" in that hospital bed!
Amen.

MR. BOHRMAN...I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW FRUSTRATING THIS MUST BE FOR YOU BUT I WANT YOU TO KEEP TRYING AND KNOW WHAT AN INSPIRATION YOU ARE TO SO MANY PEOPLE...PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER MET YOU. WE PRAY FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY..IT'S OBVIOUS HOW MUCH THEY LOVE YOU...AND I DO BELIEVE THAT GOD IS USING YOU IN WAYS YOU NEVER COULD HAVE IMAGINED. AND JUST AS AN ASIDE, YOU SURE LOOK HANDSOME IN YOUR LATEST PICTURE...

My mom sent this to me today:

"When you have gone so far that you can't manage one more step, then you've gone half the distance you are capable of."

~ Greenlander Proverb

Praying for all of you every day.

Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious-the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.

Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

Philippians 4:8-9 (The Message)

it has to be scary when pat-daddy--the family cheerleader, the ultimate go-for-it guy, the fix-everything and ask for more, the creative engineer of everything from machines to events to parades to props to true yarns to great kids (thanks to jeannie, too)--has to be scary when pat doesn't always feel like giving his normal 500%. when pat acts like a mere mortal, it's unnerving. it's hard to be the hero all the time. that's what we have Jesus for, and even HE struggled with doubt and pain. if pat didn't have the occasional "i'm sick of trying" moment, he'd be delusional. as it is, his emotions and effort are superhuman, by any standard. don't be discouraged. it's the boulders in the stream that purify the water, make the splash and sparkle, force the rapids. without the boulders, the stream can be no better than sluggish and mucky. you're hitting another boulder now... hang on. lovelovelove.
